My husband and I got into a discussion about the aesthetics of past decades. We disagreed about whether we liked the 60s and 70s, but I lacked the vocabulary to describe the visuals I actually liked from those times: botanical illustrations, natural aspects of textiles and decor, gentle, earthy embellishments to product packaging, and so on.
This hardly a Google search made, so I stumbled around the internet looking for evidence of this ecological style half-remembered from childhood at my grandmothers’ homes, and eventually I fell down a rabbit hole of vintage children’s book illustrations. It wasn’t what I was looking for but it was charming all the same.
